Olympia Monica (SM8) Restored 1960s Portable Typewriter (QWERTZ)

The Olympia Monica is a beautifully built mid-size portable vintage typewriter from West Germany, crafted in the 1960s. Its deep-blue enamel finish, solid build, and smooth action make it perfect for letters, journals, or creative writing.

This example (serial no. 2988983) has been professionally restored in our Fuengirola workshop, fitted with a fresh ribbon, and comes with its original carrying case.

Who Used Olympia Typewriters

Olympia earned a reputation for precision and durability, making its machines favourites of journalists and authors. While the Monica was designed for students and professionals, other Olympia models served writers such as J.G. Ballard, Harlan Ellison, Neil Simon, and Paul Auster- a heritage shared by this machine.
